Life With Twins

For those of you who are wondering how I have been handling everything since the twins were born, I'll give you a glimpse into my world. I am home by myself with the 3 kids Mon-Thurs from 7am until 5:30 pm while David goes to work as a welder for Trail King Industries. (we are pastors on the Indian Reservation, but David had to take a job due to low financial support.)
The babies are generally good. I can USUALLY feed them and put them down to nap or sit in their swing and bouncy seat.
There are LOTS of diaper changes. We go through about 90 diapers a week. I had never in my life changed a boy before having Elijah, and I definitely do not enjoy the surprise "showers." One time he got the wall, his head, and Addy's head all at once.
The twins are not really fussy babies. I've told some people that the 2 of them combined are not as fussy as what Harmony was as a baby. They do have their times when they need to be rocked, fed, or have pacifiers stuffed in their mouths.
I can get housework done (not without running to stick pacifiers in, or without having Harmony need things). Note: There's always laundry, laundry, and more laundry!
Meals are interesting... as David and I usually both end up holding a baby.
And the final aspect of caring for twins that everyone wants to know about: The nights. Yes, I do get sleep. I have the babies on the same schedule and they both sleep about 6 hours at night. Plus, they go back to sleep really well. (I'm very fortunate!)
One of the biggest things I've had to get used to is all the attention we get everywhere we go. People do double takes to make sure they're actually seeing a mother carrying a carseat in both hands, wearing a backpack (used as a diaper bag), while making sure a 3 year old stays close. Usually I don't go out without David, but there are still dr appointments and other places I have to go alone. When we enter a room everyone gasps, "Awe, twins!" Everyone wants to see the babies and find out what it's like. (I've had to force myself to be outgoing at times.)
I'm sure I'm leaving other points out, but that's all I can think of right now. I'm so blessed to have twins and I would never trade it for anything!
One more thing... The pink Strawberry Shortcake jammies that Addy has on were mine when I was a baby!
