We made it to Pennsylvania! It was one looooong drive. We left at 1:11pm on Wednesday and got to Tunkhannock around 2:00 yesterday. I (Liz) drove the whole entire way (yes, please applause). David was willing to help, but I think he's better at doing the goofy entertaining faces that the babies occasionally needed to keep them from crying. The babies slept better in the van and ate less than they do at home. We stopped about every 4 hours for them to eat. They didn't fuss anymore than usual and Harmony was a good kid.
I don't have anything amazingly exciting to say about the drive. Oh wait, yes I do. We were driving through Chicago and I got lost. When you're on the highway around Chicago, there are exits on both sides all the time and somehow as I was meaning to stay on the main highway, I went on a different road. We got a taste of city life. I was trying to change lanes near a stop light and almost cut into a car. I quickly veered back into my lane and stopped at the red light. The car that I started to cut off was a whole car of colored girls. Let's just say they displayed an extreme case of road rage that made this white girl's jaw drop open. They were hanging out the windows cursing with obscene gestures. I sure was happy when the light turned green. Thankfully our GPS helped get us back to the highway. It was right around midnight and we enjoyed some New Years fireworks as we travelled through.
There's not much else to say about a boring 20-something hour drive. I will have to say that there's nothing like being in the Endless Mountains of northeaster PA. We have rolling hills in part of SD, but nothing like around here. Even Harmony kept saying, "look at all these hills!" We're enjoying being with family. It's nice to have your hands free for a little while when your used to holding 2 babies all day by yourself during the week!
