Today we went to Rev. Albert Barr's funeral. I was really glad we could go. He had been pastoring my "home church" in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania for almost 6 years before he passed away last Monday. I say "home church" not because we attended regularly (we have been living out in South Dakota), but because Tunkhannock is the town I grew up in. I attended the school in the basement of the Tunkhannock Pilgrim Holiness Church, and then started attending the church there as well. I'm a member of this church. I enjoyed Albert Barr as an evangelist so much and was absolutely thrilled when he started pastoring in Tunkhannock. It was always great to go home to Tunkhannock and have him there as the pastor. I appreciated his ministry so much. He was an amazing man of God. At the funeral I felt such mixed emotions. Part of the time there were tears in my eyes because I was so sad that Albert Barr is gone. Part of the time the tears were there as I sat and thought about what he must be experiencing in Heaven! I felt such peace and joy at the thought of Heaven! No more pain, sickness, heartaches, etc.!
A hero went home to Heaven.
